Dean Scott Edell, MD is a board-certified physician with 30+ years of experience, research and practice in the field of Pulmonology medicine. He has a comprehensive educational background having completed intern and residency programs at New York Medical College, a Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship from Duke University and an undergraduate degree from Rutgers University. He received his Masters in Public Health during his Residency in Maternal and Child health. He received his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine with his clinical sciences completed at University college Dublin, Ireland.

Dr. Edell has served in a variety of roles over the last 15 years in the medical community in and around the city of New Orleans. He served as Chairman of Pediatrics in addition to his role as Medical Director of the Pediatric Emergency Room at West Jefferson Medical Center. Most recently he’s served as Director of Pulmonary and Respiratory Care at Children’s Hospital of New Orleans. His specialties are Chronic Lung Disease of Infancy (CLDI) including BPD, Pulmonary Procedures, Noisy Breathing, Recurrent Croup, Acute Lung Injury, Asthma, Recurrent Pneumonia as well as Recurrent Chest Infections to name a few.

Dr. Edell is excited to join Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health and will practice in both our Baton Rouge and Acadiana markets serving pediatric pulmonary patients.
