Angelle Klar, MD, specializes primarily in neonatology with Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.  Dr. Klar diagnoses and treats conditions in newborns after birth, including breathing problems, infections, and birth defects.  She specializes in the care of premature babies and those with major health issues focusing on symptom management and relief.  In addition, Dr Klar specializes in palliative care, which is a supportive service for patients and families facing a difficult diagnosis, serious illness or uncertain outcome.  Palliative care utilizes a network of providers that offer compassionate support and comfort, with a goal of helping a family process information regarding an illness and make choices that honor what is important to them.

Dr. Klar is a graduate of Louisiana State University. She later received her Doctor of Medicine from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Neonatology at Louisiana State University/Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans.  After several years of practice in Neonatology, she studied Pediatric Palliative Care and completed fellowship training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.  She went on to complete the Certificate Program in Pediatric Bioethics of the Children’s Mercy Bioethics Center in Kansas City.  Licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, Dr. Klar is board-certified in Pediatrics, sub-board certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and board-certified in Hospice in Palliative Medicine.
