Dr. Emily Cassidy received her undergraduate degree from University of New Orleans and obtained her medical degree from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. She completed her internship and residency in general surgery at Morristown Memorial Hospital in New Jersey. Dr. Cassidy then completed a Fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery and serves as a clinical assistant professor at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, Department of Surgery. Dr. Cassidy is an established thoracic surgeon with an extensive surgical portfolio and specializes in robotic approaches and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery principles, which can enhance outcomes and decrease recovery time. Dr. Cassidy became a thoracic surgeon because it offered the greatest opportunity to help individuals and their families overcome challenging and vulnerable experiences.
