About The Provider
Dr. James Ferrer, a native of Sulphur, La., earned his bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University in 2015. He went on to attend LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, where he graduated first in his class in 2021. He completed his dermatology residency at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis in 2025, serving as Chief Resident in his final year.
Dr. Ferrer is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and is licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana. As a general dermatologist, Dr. Ferrer diagnoses and treats conditions of the skin, hair and nails for patients of all ages. This includes managing chronic skin diseases like eczema and psoriasis, detecting and treating skin cancers, and providing care for common concerns such as acne, rashes and hair loss.
Dr. Ferrer is married to Prairieville native Dr. Raven Anderson Ferrer, a pediatrician at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health. In his free time, Dr. Ferrer enjoys reading, weightlifting and playing pickleball.
