About William M. Boedefeld, II

About The Provider

Dr. William M. Boedefeld II, MD is a native of St. Louis, Missouri and a 1992 graduate of DeSmet Jesuit High School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis and then went on to complete his medical school at Creighton University's School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He pursued his general surgery residency and research training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Boedefeld went on to complete his Fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Virginia. He is Board Certified by the American Board of General Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Boedefeld is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), Southern Thoracic Surgical Association (STSA) and an Associate of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a surgeon member of the Our Lady of the Lake Heart & Vascular Institute multidisciplinary valve team and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. Dr. Boedefeld enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters and golden retriever.

    Dr Boedefeld is an exceptional communicator as well a highly respected Surgeon. Did a review of upcoming procedure, risksn using heart postera to point to area he would be working during open heart procedure. Then allowed us to express any concerns, and address our general questions about how best to prepare, what to expect post op, alternative procedures, and answered all questions with clarity and understanding.My bride and I both love our Dr Boedefeld's skill set and communication style.

    Dr. Bodafeild reviewed my scans and explained them very well. Took the time to listen to my questions . Answered them well. He was a very down to earth and very positive Dr. , especially for a thoracic surgeon . He didn't talk over my head, and made me feel very comfortable with his diagnosis and future care . This was one of the most stressful times in my life and I have been dreading the appointment . Turns out that this isn't rare, it wasn't as bad as I thought, and Dr. Bodefield was able to put my anxiety to bed with his evaluation and expertise on the subject . I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders .
